Born and raised in Sudan to Ethiopian parents, Bakri Idris Mohamed’s first exposure to the work of film was in Sudan when he watched Charlie Chapman’s film The Kid to be specific. He laughed so hard and found it amusing how Charlie Chapman would move, and some of the strange predicaments his character found himself in. Growing up in a big family, they would find themselves entertaining each other by improvising scenes and character from movies they had recently seen, trying to guess what character of movie it was from. This sensation and joy in playing and performing is what led Bakri to study drama in high school and purse a career pathway in acting.
Bakri was accepted into the Western Australia Academy of Performing Arts Diploma in Stage Acting (WAAPA) in 2020, before offered the opportunity to study at the National Institue of Dramatic Art (NIDA) in the 3-year intensive acting course to further enhance his story telling ability.
