Joanna Tu joins the cast as series regular ‘Nattie’ in the Stan Original Series, Invisible Boys filming this year in Western Australia.
The Invisible Boys screenplay has been adapted by Nicholas Verso based on the award winning book by Holden Sheppard.
Charlie is a fiery teen punk yearning for connection and understanding in the remote coastal town of Geraldton, Western Australia. But in Geraldton, homosexuality is not only taboo, it could also make him a target.
He saves money from his cover-band gigs in the hope of escaping his small town for big city life and the hope of fame and acceptance. Until then, his only experience of intimacy is from NSA sexual encounters with fly-in-fly-out workers at the highway toilet block. But when a one-off Grindr encounter with a married man is exposed, Charlie is “outed”. Suddenly everyone in his conservative town knows his secret and his cocky persona is shattered.
But then Charlie discovers he’s not alone. There are three other boys grappling with their own sexual desires and identity. When their shared truth is revealed, will it set them free or blow them apart? To survive and find love, the boys must rewire the toxic lessons they’ve learned, let go of past hurts and find their own sense of self worth.
