Directed by Lorcan Finnegan (Vivarium) and written by Thomas Martin, The Surfer is a bold Australian-set psychological thriller produced by Tea Shop Productions, Arenamedia, and Gramercy Park Media.
Set against the sun-drenched, isolated beaches of Western Australia, the film follows a man (played by Nicolas Cage) who returns to his hometown and becomes entangled in a violent power struggle with a local gang of surfers. Tyren Maclou features as the Pizza Guy in a pivotal early scene that sets the surreal, menacing tone of the story-world.
Filmed entirely on location in Yallingup, WA, The Surfer had its world premiere at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival in the Midnight Screenings section and is now streaming Australia-wide on Stan.
